A guide to beading needles

A guide to beading needles
Beading Needles are much finer and more flexible than standard embroidery needles to allow them to pass through the often very narrow threading holes in beads. They are available in a wide range of sizes, Shapes and lengths for all your beading requirements. Beading needles are typically longer than standard needles to allow you to thread on numerous beads in one go. The most common sizes are usually 10-15. Remember...the larger the number, the finer the needle!
Needle Types

English Beading Needles

English beading needles are the most sturdy and often have a very small eye the same width as the needle shaft. This can make threading tricky sometimes so these needles are best suited to very fine beading threads such as Fireline, Spider Wire and Nymo. We stock size 10 and size 12 English beading needles suitable for a wide range of beading techniques.

Short Beading Needles

Short beading needles are the same as the standard English beading needles, just shorter in length making them useful for more intricate beading work and for getting into tighter areas. We stock John James size 10 beading needles suitable for use with Seed beads as small as size 11.

Big Eye Needles

Big eye needles have an eye that runs all the way down the length of the needle making them really useful if regular thread changes are required and for use with slightly thicker beading threads. They are made from high tensile wire making them really flexible. We stock Beadsmith long and short big eye needles in packs of 4.

Curved Beading Needles

Curved beading needles have a large eye often running the full length of the shaft making threading much easier They are curved in the centre and are really useful for working with tight, uneven surfaces.
