♡ Working With Knitted Wire ♡

25/09/2015 1 Comment(s) Introduction to Beading for beginners, Tutorials and Mini-Makes,

Hi!

This week I've been working with knitted Copper wire mesh. Has anyone ever had a go? I'm hooked! It's such a cool material...you can stretch it, scrunch it, pull it apart, put things inside it....there are so many creative possibilities. It's supplied on a 1 metre reel and comes in a great range of colours. It's actually a flattened tube, so you can fill it with beads, crystals or any other material you can think of. You can also mould it into different Shapes like petals and leaves for example and even create wired edges.

I decided to create a simple(ish;) wire wrapped pendant to begin with so that I could write a tutuorial for any of you lovely people that haven't worked with this before......

Opting to combine this pale turquoise mesh with a beautiful 10mm white freshwater pearl and three violet Swarovski Crystal bicones, I then used silver plated copper wire in two different widths (0.8mm and 0.5mm) to wrap around the top, middle and base to keep the beads in place and create a loop for the Jump Ring to attach to. As usual I took photographs as I went to make things clearer. So if you fancy giving this a go, keep an eye on our Jewellery & Beading Tutorials department and our social media pages (Facebook, Twitter and Google+) for details!

Until next week...

Emma
