★ Friday Make! ★

Happy Friday Everyone!

You know when you get the urge to make something but you're not quite sure what you're going to make or how you're going to do it? You just get out a random selection of materials you like and see what happens? I did this yesterday and after a few trials and errors, I ended up with this rather nice Liberty covered wire wrapped bracelet/bangle. I've gotten quite into wire wrapping again over the past few months and we got a lovely new collection of Liberty cords in stock, so I wanted to find a way to incorporate the two together.

I opted to use our 1.5mm lightweight Aluminium Craft Wire in Leaf Green as a base (but you could also use memory wire if you feel more comfortable with that). I covered it in one of our gorgeous Liberty of London 4mm cords (Blue Mitsi print), then wrapped the ends in square Copper craft wire to secure the cord. After this, I strung tiny Size 15 Galvanised Miyuki Seed beads and 3.4mm Miyuki drop beads onto 0.6mm copper wire and coiled this over the top of the Liberty, then over the square wire ends for added decoration. Finally, it was finished with a polished copper toggle clasp.

For a 'design as you go' bracelet, I think this turned out brilliantly. This looks great worn alone or would work beautifully layered up on the wrist in different colourways. I will be adding this to our Design Ideas department at the beginning of next week so keep your eyes peeled for the instructions! What do you think? Do you have any spur of the moment design success stories? I'd love to hear from you.
