Hello!
The weekend is here again! If you find yourself with an hour or so with nothing to do but twiddle your thumbs....why dont you pick up a needle and thead, grab those Seed beads and have a go at off loom bead weaving? You can have a bracelet whipped up in no time to show off to friends and family. It looks far more complicated than it really is. This week i created a basic flat herringbone stitch tutorial for you guys to follow, complete with pretty pictures so you don't get lost!
Flat Herringbone stitch is one of the first off loom stitches people tend to learn next to Peyote stitch. Once you get going it's quick to build up particurlarly if you work with larger seed beads. The stitch is beautiful in it's own right but it can also be used as a base for embellishing with other beads. There are many variations of this stitch including tubular herringbone, you really can get creative!

The flat herringbone bracelet above from The Bead Monkey features herringbone stitch on two sides with a row of Pearls in the center. Really simple to do and it looks so effective.

So what do you think? Fancy giving it a go? If you do, head over to our Guide To Basic Flat Herringbone Stitch and follow my step by step instuctions to get started!
