Hello!

Take a break this Friday evening and make this beeeeeautiful Rainbow Crystal & Freshwater Pearl Lariat Necklace in time for the weekend! I sat here this morning staring at my bead stash here at the office and couldn't for the life of me decide out of this lot of beads to use.....so i used them all to create this mixed up necklace with stunning results.....

Materials you will need:

Step 1

Cut a 68cm length of the 19 strand Beadalon wire, find the center and pinch it together gently to create a bend. Then cut another length of wire measuring 15cm and fold this over the bend you just created on the longer length. Fold this shorter length off center so one side hangs a cm or so below the other. We're going to bead the drop at the bottom of the necklace first, so thread onto both of the wires you just folded over: 1 x Metallic green Chinese crystal bicone, 1 x Galvanized light beige Miyuki round, 1 x Miyuki magatama matte black AB, 1 x 7-8mm White potato pearl, 1 x Galvanized light beige Miyuki round, 1 x Size 15 blue zircon Miyuki round seed bead, 1 x Superuno Czeck seed bead Red Luster, 1 x Swarovski Crystal bicone Crystal Copper, 1 x Galvanized light beige Miyuki round, 1 x Miyuki magatama matte black AB, 1 x Size 15 blue zircon Miyuki round seed bead, 1 x Metallic green Chinese crystal bicone, 1 x Superuno Czeck seed bead Red Luster, 1 x Galvanized light beige Miyuki round, 1 x 7-8mm White potato pearl, 1 x 9-10mm White rice pearl (or another 7-8mm potato pearl).

Step 2

Then to the longer length of wire sticking out, thread on: 6 x Galvanized light beige Miyuki rounds, 1 x Size 15 blue zircon Miyuki round seed bead, 1 x Miyuki magatama matte black AB, 1 x Swarovski Crystal bicone Crystal Copper and 1 x Galvanized light beige Miyuki round. Then thread on a silver plated crimp bead and crush closed with chain nose or crimping pliers. Trim off any excess wire with wire cutters.

Step 3

To the shorter length, thread on: 5 x Size 15 blue zircon Miyuki round seed beads, 1 x Galvanized light beige Miyuki round, 1 x Superuno Czeck seed bead Red Luster, 1 x Metallic green Chinese crystal bicone, and 1 x Size 15 blue zircon Miyuki round seed bead. Then thread on a silver plated crimp bead and crush closed with chain nose or crimping pliers. Trim off any excess wire with wire cutters.

Step 4

Now you've created the center drop, it's now time to bead the rest of the necklace. It's easier to do one side at a time, then you can just copy the bead combination in half the time for the other side. There's no particular order for the combination of beads on this necklace as i wanted it to look a little mixed up. The only things that are consistant are the 7-8mm pearls every 3 centimetres or so.

So on the left side string on 2 x Miyuki rounds, 1 x Superuno Czeck seed bead Red Luster, then 1 x 7-8mm White potato pearl. After this, carry on stringing a mixture of all of the beads you've used so far making sure you add a 7-8mm potato pearl every 3cm or so. When you have done this for 17cms (finishing with a pearl), thread on: 1 x Galvanized light beige Miyuki round, 1 x Size 15 blue zircon Miyuki round seed bead, 1 x Metallic green Chinese crystal bicone, then 21 x Galvanized light beige Miyuki rounds, 1 x Metallic green Chinese crystal bicone, 21 x Galvanized light beige Miyuki rounds, 1 x Metallic green Chinese crystal bicone, 21 x Galvanized light beige Miyuki rounds, 1 x Metallic green Chinese crystal bicone, and 21 more Galvanized light beige Miyuki rounds.

Now string on 5 x Size 15 blue zircon Miyuki round seed beads, 1 x Miyuki Magatama matte black AB, and 5 x Size 15 blue zircon Miyuki round seed beads. Finally, thread on a silver plated crimp bead and one side of your flower toggle clasp. Pass the wire back down through the crimp bead and through the first few seed beads below. Pull tight, then crush the crimp with your pliers. Trim off the excess wire sticking out of the seed beads. This completes the left side of the necklace.

Step 5

Now simply repeat step 4 on the right side. This side will be much quicker as you can just mirror your bead combination on the left.

Step 6

Gaze in wonder at the beautiful necklace before you, put it on and go show off your epic jewellery making skills!

I hope you enjoy making (and wearing!) this as much as i did. Please let me know in the comments below if you gave this a try :)

Untill next time....
