Chainmail Design Ideas

12/09/2016 0 Comment(s) Tutorials and Mini-Makes,

This week I have been working on design ideas to share with you all.

Using a variation of chainmail techniques, I wanted to make them so that they appeal to both men and women and that their designs could be easily achieved with a few basic Tools.

The first one I did was my favorite and I decided to call it the " Navagio Beach" Bracelet as its colurs remind me of this particular beach in Greece. It is a simple yet stunning design and to make it the only tools you will require are : Two pairs of flat nosed Pliers, round nosed pliers and a pair of side cutters.

The Navagio Beach Bracelet.

To Make this you will need:

1 Pack of 8mm Silver Plate Jump Rings

1 Pack of 6mm Silver Plate Jump Rings

A Large Lobster Silver Plated Clasp

A Pack of 2" Silver Plated Eyepins

1 Strand of 8mm Faceted Agate Beads

I have also made an easy free illustrated guide for you to follow, available on the Design Ideas page.

The second project I used the herringbone chainmail technique as an alternative to the Bizantine technique and mixed this to create a dainty soft feminine effect with beautiful sapphire blue Swarovski crystals.

The Chainmail & Crystal Bracelet

To make this design:

1 Pack of 8mm Silver Plated Jump Rings

1 Pack of Sapphire Blue Swarovski Crystals

7 Strand Beadalon Cable Wire

1 Pack of Silver Crimp Beads

1 10mm Silver Plated Lobster Clasp

Beads Jar regularly adds beading tutorials with fabulous design ideas on our You Tube channel. This particular project is going to be available to see soon. You can subscribe to get the latest videos straight to you.

The third design was to appeal to a more masculine audience as it is chunkier than the previous designs and combines darker antique jump rings with Leather in a plait and cord ends that match the antique jump rings. The chainmail technique on this one is called Bizantine.

The fourth project I wanted to share with you is a chainmail  technique but this time to create a delicate pair of Earrings.

The added extra effect in this project I worked with Niobium components to add Colour and interest.
