This illustrated guide shows you how to create the Japanese 12 in 2 Chain Maille weave which is great for creating unique Bracelets and pendants. This weave looks beautiful as it is or it can be embellished with beads. You will need two different sizes of chain maille rings/Jump Rings for this.

A larger one for the main center links and smaller ones which are going to join these together. Here we're going to show you how to create a triangular Shape, but once you know the basic principle you can create whatever shape you like.

Things you will need

Step 1

Using both pairs of pliers, twist open a large gold chain maille ring, then hook on 12 x smaller silver chain maille rings. Twist the gold ring closed.

Step 2

Separate the silver rings into pairs then twist open 6 x gold rings, hook one onto each pair of silver rings and twist closed.

Step 3

Twist open 12 x silver rings, then attach them in pairs to the six gold rings, joining them together.

Step 4

To create the bottom right corner of the triangle: Twist open 4 x silver rings and attach 2 to the bottom right gold ring. Then attach the other pair to the gold ring center right. Twist open a gold ring and hook this through both pairs of silver rings. This completes one corner of the triangle. See image below...

Step 5

Now you're going to do the same on the left side. So open 4 x silver rings, then attach one pair to the bottom left gold ring and the other pair to the gold ring center left...

Step 6

Open a gold ring and hook through both pairs of silver rings, completing the left corner.

Step 7

For the final corner, open 4 more silver rings and attach one pair to the top right gold ring and the other to the top left gold ring. Then open a final gold ring and hook through both pairs of silver rings. This completes your triangle!
